Ukuqolwa komhlaba kaZulu kwavusa uhlevane emakholweni

NGEMUVA kweMpi yamaBhunu namaNgisi (1899-1902), ngoNhlolanja we-1905, abaholi abaqavile bawo wonke amakholwa: oJabez Molife noStephen Mini (Edendale), uJosiah Gumede (Bergville), uSimeon Khambule (Driefontein) noZephaniah Masuku (eNcome) baduba zonke izimendlela zethusi ezazinikezwa amasotsha amakholwa ngomnikelo wawo empini ngephuzu lokuthi kungani wonke awabelungu ayenikezwa izimendlela zesiliva?

Ngenxa yokungeneliswa nguHulumeni namasonto ayeholwa ngabefundisi babelungu, amakholwa amaZulu aqamba amabandla awo azimele lapho ayeshumayela khona izintshumayelo ezinamandla nezazivula uZulu amehlo zithi amakholwa kudingeka alwele iqiniso nobulungiswa ngoba uJesu walwela iqiniso wakhulula abantu ezonweni zabo.

UHulumeni ebonisana nabefundisi babelungu wanquma ukuba bonke abefundisi ababehola amabandla ayengaholwa ngabefundisi babelungu banganikezwa izitifiketi zobufundisi, ezokubhabhathisa izingane nezokushadisa. Abefundisi bamaZulu bakuphikisa lokhu bethi kungani umfundisi womlungu yena abe ngaphansi kukaNkulunkulu kodwa owomZulu aphoqwe ukuthi asebenze ngaphansi komlungu? Lokhu kwasishubisa kakhulu isimo ezindaweni eziningi ezazinamasonto azimele.

Kungalesi sizathu iMpi Yamakhanda yaqalwa yiwona amakholwa amaZulu ayesemabandleni angaholwa ngabefundisi babelungu mhla ziyisi-7/8 kuNhlolanja ngowe-1906. Yiwona futhi amakholwa athatha izikhali azimbandakanya nempi yabashokobezi abhekana nabacindezeli eziMishini zaseNoodsberg, naseDaliba naseMushane. EMishini yaseSidumbini wonke amakholwa athatha izikhali ngaphandle kuphela kwamane. EMsunduzi ngaseNdwedwe amakholwa amane athatha izikhali nokho amabili kuwo adutshulwa afa. Ziningi izidumbu zamakholwa nezabashokobezi ezazitholakala zisele enkundleni.

Ngemuva kokuba abashokobezi beNkosi uBhambatha belalele unyendle impi yabelungu emuva kwesiwombe sasesitolo sakwaMpanza, uMoses Dlamini noPaul Dunge ababengabashumayeli kwaNtunjambili kwakuthi njalo ebusuku bayonikeza izintshumayelo ezishubile kubashokobezi beNkosi uBhambatha bebagqugquzela ukuba baqhubeke nempi ngoba iNkosi uJesu yayizobasiza bonke abalwela ukuqeda ingcindezelo yabelungu.

Bagcina beshaywe ngenhlamvu basala enkundleni ibambene eyabashokobezi namabutho kaHulumeni wabacindezeli baseNatali.

Lokhu kwenziwa yiZululand Lands Delimitation Commission eyayiholwa nguCharles Saunders – uMashiqela ngokushiqeka abantu emeveni nasemigubaneni – kusukela ngonyaka we-1902 kuya ngowe-1904. Le Khomishini eyayaziwa ngokuthi yiKhomishini yokuKlanywa kweZindawo kwaZulu zinikezwe abelungu, yadudulela amaZulu naMakhosi awo ematsheni, emigubaneni, emeveni nasezindaweni ezisemakheleketheni.

Zonke izindawo ezigudle ulwandle ezivundile nezinamadlelo amahle njengaseMlalazi, eMhlathuze, eMtubatuba, nakwezinye eziningi zanikezwa abelungu. Lokhu kwawathukuthelisa kakhulu amaZulu. Ikhomishane efana nalena eNingizimu yoThukela noMzinyathi yenzeka ngonyaka we-1846. Yona yayaziwa ngokuthi yiLand Boundary Commission eyayijutshwe nguMbusi weKoloni yamaNgisi aseNatali uMartin West. Le Khomishini kaMashiqela yayingakugqize qakala ukubonisana namaZulu kangangokuthi kwathi uma ifika eNkandla ngaseQhudeni naseNquthu yathatha izinkomo zabantu yazihlabela amalungu eKhomishini. Lokhu kwamthukuthelisa wagana unwabu uMehlokazulu kaSihayo Ngobese wanikela kuyo namanye amadoda eyobuza ngokwakwenzeka. Watshelwa ngu”Mashiqela” ukuthi izinkomo zazihlatshelwa amalungu eKhomishini.

Wabhalela iNgonyama uDinuzulu incwadi uMehlokazulu mhla zili-12 kuNhlaba ngowe-1904, ethi: “iNquthu isithathwe (ngabelungu) yenziwa amapulazi, kodwa angizange ngithathe zinyathelo ngoba u“Mashiqela” uthe igunya lokwenza lokhu ulinikwe ngamadoda akubo ePietermaritzburg. Abantu baseNquthu bathukuthele ngoba iNquthu sayinikwa yiSilo uCetshwayo.”

AmaZulu ayesebazi kahle kamhlophe ubuqili bokuqolwa kwezwe lawo kwazise lonke izwe lasebaQulusini laliqoliwe lanikezwa amaBhunu. Lokhu kwakuphakathi kwesivumelwano sawo noHulumeni wamaNgisi mhla zingama-22 kuMfumfu we-1886. Lapho-ke kwaze kwaqolwa nendawo eNgcwele yaseMakhosini yenziwa  amapulazi amaBhunu. IKhomishini kaMashiqela yehlukanisa uMbuso kaZulu eNyakatho yoThukela noMzinyathi izizwe ezingama-81 kwathi yonke indawo evundile yanikezwa abelungu bamapulazi nezimishini zamasonto. Enye indawo kwatshalwa kuyo amahlathi kaHulumeni. ENkandla naseNquthu amaZulu ayeminyene exhobelene ematsheni nezizwe zawo. Yingakho-ke kungazange kumangaze ukubona uMehlokazulu eba ngomunye wabaholi babashokobezi eNkandla ebambisene neNkosi uBhambatha Zondi. Lokhu kwakungemuva kokubheduka kweMpi Yamakhanda nokubulawa kweNkosi yesizwe sakwaSibisi uSishishili kaMnqandi ngoba ekhokhe uKhandampondo kuqala eNkantolo yaseNkandla.  Lokhu amaZulu ayephambene nakho. Isimo sasishubile kakhulu ngenkathi amaZulu exhotshelwa ezintabeni nemfuyo yawo. Ayesuswa ezindaweni ezivundileyo eshiya amanxiwa namathuna okhokho bawo. Yisenzo esifana nalesi okwathi uma kushaywa umthetho wokuthelela amakhanda ngoNcwaba wowe-1905 owawuphoqa amaZulu aganiwe ukuba athelele amakhanda, safana nokuthela uphalafini emlilweni ngoba imisebenzi yayingekho.
